I was actually able to go home and sleep because she told me to get rest and that they would take care of everything.
My husband has dementia, and he has episodes where he can get aggressive when he gets confused and doesn’t understand what is going on. Some of the nurses in the past have been really scared of my husband when he is like that, and things can get really bad. It is really hard to watch when their fear and his fear combine, making things worse. Not everybody knows how to deal with dementia patients. But while my husband was hospitalized during this visit. There were so many great nurses who knew just how to handle him. And I was not his nurse, but every day she would come in to check on him, help care for him, feed him, clean him, and redirect him when he got lost in his mind. Anytime I needed help fast, I would step outside the room, find her, and ask her for help. She was always willing to help. When I had questions about why he was acting like this, what was wrong with him, what the next steps were to help him, and how he was doing while I was gone, she always had updates and information. She helped both of us so much. I was actually able to go home and sleep because she told me to get rest and that they would take care of everything. Because she said it, I knew it was true. You can tell some people were born to do this, and she was one of them.
