I have a DNR/DNI for my husband, who was brought in with a diagnosis of SIRS. The first thing she said to me was that there may be these instructions in place; however, we will still do our very best to try to save him. She was constantly looking after him, caring for him, diagnosing his pain, while at the same time she was looking after me. I was by myself, and she took care of everything. She got a chair, blanket, and pillow for me; all while doing her job of looking after her patients. Her kindness was overwhelming. She is one of the most special nurses I have ever met, and she definitely deserves this Award for her dedication to her patients and to their loved ones.
