She made sure the patient was comfortable, carefully explaining things, patiently answering questions, and even translating for family members when needed.
I would like to nominate Andrea from the ICU unit for the extraordinary care she provided. What stood out most was how Andrea treated the patient as if she were caring for a member of her own family. At every interaction, whether routine or critical, Andrea provided care that could not have been better. Her attention and compassion were consistent every moment she was there. She anticipated needs, responded quickly, and handled every situation with genuine kindness and skill. Whenever we reached out for updates, Andrea always knew exactly what was happening. She never had to check or confirm details because she was already completely informed. She made sure the patient was comfortable, carefully explaining things, patiently answering questions, and even translating for family members when needed. She also took the extra step of showing us how to assist safely with care at home, even though this wasn’t something required of her. One moment that especially stood out happened after Andrea’s shift ended. The patient needed readjustment, and Andrea, although off duty, immediately returned to help. It was a small gesture, but it demonstrated perfectly the type of nurse and person she is. We are deeply grateful for Andrea’s exceptional care. She made an incredibly difficult time easier to manage, and she truly deserves recognition with the DAISY Award.
