As a hospital employee myself, being on the other side of surgery, I was incredibly vulnerable, and honestly, it was very nerve-wracking. Especially, given the type of procedure I was undergoing. Danica immediately recognized my anxiety and met it with calm, confidence, and genuine compassion. She explained what to expect, anticipated my needs before I even voiced them, and treated me not just as a patient, but as a person.

It is one thing to provide competent clinical care - it is another to create an experience that feels dignified, calm, and even lovely during such a vulnerable moment. Danica did exactly that. I would like to nominate Danica for a DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional nursing care she provided during my recent surgery at Crestwood Hospital. She embodies what the DAISY Award represents: extraordinary clinical skill paired with authentic compassion.
