During admission, we received excellent care from the beginning by all nurses and staff, and were assured by everyone that we would be well taken care of.
As of Sunday, prebirth, she (Jennifer Simpson, CNM) was attentive to H's every need. As of the 2 cm, check, Jen assured us she and the baby were safe and was very kind, calm, and patient. She returned to check btw the 2 and 7 cm after about two hours, when she then saw that H was almost completely done with water breaking. She explained the option of monitoring the baby closely by placing a monitor on the baby’s head, completing the bursting of the sack, and placing a catheter in her.
Within about one hour, she returned and saw that H was now 10 cm dilated. Before that, she was determined to complete her birth plan of finishing the last chapter of the Harry Potter book. She (Jen) placed her in the Queen Throne position and let her finish her book. Upon her return, she had her “practice push,” but after only a few times, called in backup and casually and calmly set up the table and necessary protection plastic on the bed and had her push.
She was very supportive and gentle with every push coaching her and telling her how great she was doing stating over and over again how great she is doing. Jen was extraordinary with every step and detail of the baby's birth! We all thank her!
