Even though she is not Arabic-speaking, she made great efforts to say Arabic words to increase my sense of comfort, frequently repeating phrases like “Masha’Allah” and “Alhamdulillah.”
I would like to share my experience with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

This was my first child and my first experience as a mother. God willed to test my patience, and my baby needed to be transferred to the intensive care unit for a blood exchange. I cannot describe how I felt at that moment, feelings mixed between joy at his arrival into life and an overwhelming, suffocating fear and anxiety about his condition and being separated from me.

Honestly, I found no one more caring and reassuring than the nursing staff, who did everything they could to comfort me and bring my baby closer to me whenever possible. By God’s grace, they were also very keen on providing him with breast milk despite some challenges, and thanks to God, most of his feeding depended solely on the mother’s milk.

My sense of comfort increased day by day. I would come to see my baby feeling reassured that he was in safe and trustworthy hands.

I extend my thanks to all the medical and nursing staff in the intensive care unit, with special thanks to the nurse whose care stood out to me the most. What touched me deeply was her constant effort to communicate with me by looking me directly in the eyes, her ever-present smile, and her gentle pat on my shoulder in a sincere attempt to reassure me. Even though she is not Arabic-speaking, she made great efforts to say Arabic words to increase my sense of comfort, frequently repeating phrases like “Masha’Allah” and “Alhamdulillah.”

Now, my baby has been discharged, praise be to God, after a seven-day journey in the intensive care unit, and he is now at home in a stable condition by God’s grace. I promised them that I would give him only natural breast milk, and I am committed to that promise, God willing.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
