My brother,  a firefighter and paramedic in Pasadena, sustained a severe spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He was admitted to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) following surgery. My family and I were overwhelmed with emotions and uncertainty.

One CCU nurse who made a profound impact on my brother’s care was Haig. Many nurses perform their duties with enthusiasm and compassion, but Haig went above and beyond. He was consistently attentive, patient, and thoughtful. He listened carefully to my brother’s questions and concerns, addressed them thoroughly, and did everything possible to make his stay as comfortable as possible.

On one occasion, I was preoccupied when I arrived to visit my brother and hadn’t noticed Haig. So, Haig gently tapped my shoulder to greet me – an act of kindness that truly stood out. He has been an incredible presence in my brother’s care, and I would like to sincerely thank the CCU team, and especially Haig, for the exceptional care he provided.
