That's special. People like you remind us that compassion is a universal language. You made a hospital room on the other side of the world feel like home.
To Emily, the amazing nurse who touched our hearts. We were just two international students, far away from home, trying to navigate a hospital system in a new country while preparing for the birth of our second child.
To say we were nervous would be an understatement. We didn't know how everything would go. We had lots of questions. Some probably sounded silly. But you, Emily, answered every single one with patience, kindness, and a genuine smile that made us feel like everything would be okay. I'll never forget the way you spoke to my wife, not just to her, but to her. You made her feel seen, safe, and respected. You explained each step of the process in a way we could understand.
You didn't rush. You didn't judge. You just cared, and that meant everything. When our baby arrived, you were right there, smiling with us. I remember looking up and seeing tears in your eyes, too. You'd only just met us, but it felt like you were genuinely happy for us. That's rare. That's special. People like you remind us that compassion is a universal language. You made a hospital room on the other side of the world feel like home. I don't know how to repay that kind of kindness, but I want you to know: we'll never forget you.
Thank you, Emily, for being the kind of nurse and the kind of person that the world needs more of. You'll always be a beautiful part of our story.
With deepest gratitude, from a grateful husband, father, and human being.
