It was my first time ever being admitted to a hospital, and I was understandably nervous and unsure of what to expect. From the moment Nurse Charlotte Connors entered my room, she brought a calm, compassionate presence that helped ease my anxiety. She provided exemplary nursing care in every sense, clinical, emotional, and personal.

Charlotte noticed the small things that made a big difference. When she saw that I had run out of coffee, she went out of her way to get me more, a gesture that may seem simple, but meant so much to me in that moment, especially since she had four other patients to care for. It showed how deeply she pays attention to her patient's needs, even the unspoken ones.

She also noticed I was extremely uncomfortable with the placement of my IV, which was in the bend of my arm. On top of that, I wasn't able to lift my other arm. Charlotte immediately offered to move the IV to a better location, and to make things easier for me, she drew my blood at the same time to save me another needle stick. I had confided in her that I'm terrified of needles and the sight of my own blood, and she not only remembered that but acted with such care and gentleness to minimize my distress.

Charlotte's actions went above and beyond routine care. She made me feel like more than just a patient. She made me feel seen, heard, and truly cared for. I'm so grateful for the kindness, skill, and humanity she showed me during my stay. Nurse Charlotte Connors is exactly the kind of nurse the DAISY Award is meant to recognize. If I could give her a rating out of 5 stars, she would get 50 stars from me! She exemplifies a nurse who puts her patients' needs above all else!
