When I was admitted and taken to my room, my nurse, Leah, was like my angel from heaven.

I was so scared in that moment, but Nurse Leah took that fear away right away. She would sit next to my bed and take my hand while I cried and shared my fears with her. She told me I was going to be okay—and she was right.

I made it through the first night, and when Leah came to work the next morning, she came in with a smile, gave me a big hug, and said she was glad to be with me that day.

The following morning, she came in looking sad to tell me she wouldn’t be my nurse that day. I told her I would be okay, because I knew she was still there. She said she would come check on me and stop by to say hello.

This beautiful nurse—and my friend—has gotten me through a lot since I’ve been here, and I would love to nominate her for this award. She has touched my heart in ways nobody has before, especially when I have been down and sick. Bless her in her career and in life.
