Understanding how important it was for the patient’s children to have the chance to say goodbye to their father, Tamar drove to pick them up when her shift ended and brought them to the hospital.
I would like to recognize Tamar for going above and beyond in a moment of incredible need. Throughout this patient’s hospitalization, Tamar built a strong connection with both the patient and his family, providing compassionate, skilled care while also offering emotional support during a very difficult time.
When the patient’s condition declined, and it became clear that the end of life was near, Tamar took extra time out of her day to sit with the patient's significant other and decision maker, listening with empathy and offering reassurance as difficult choices were being made. Tamar provided comfort, presence, and humanity when it mattered most.
Understanding how important it was for the patient’s children to have the chance to say goodbye to their father, Tamar drove to pick them up when her shift ended and brought them to the hospital. Because of her selflessness and thoughtfulness, the patient’s children were able to be at their father's bedside before he passed away, creating a moment of closure for the family.
This act of kindness reflects the very heart of nursing. Tamar showed her dedication, compassion, and willingness to go far beyond what is expected to provide care not only to patients but also to their loved ones. She supported this family in a way they likely will never forget.
