My dad has had worsening balance problems over the last few months, and it has been rapidly getting worse in the last 2 weeks. We decided to take him to the emergency room, where the doctor said there was a decent chance he would be getting spinal surgery that night. We weren’t expecting that, and that news was just a lot to me, his daughter.

At one point, I was outside his room with tears in my eyes, and Carol noticed me from across the emergency department and came to talk to me and give me a hug. She went above and beyond to comfort me when I was visibly distressed because my dad is potentially having surgery the day we took him to the emergency room. She was very stern with my dad, which I told her he needed, and her personality was exactly the type of personality that is needed for my stubborn dad. Carol continually did extra things for both our comfort. She just seems like an incredible nurse and person.
