My lifelong friend was a patient. Kawlan was her nurse from Friday (day of admission) until Sunday (the day she passed). Throughout the entire time, he was there with a watchful eye. He not only provided skillful care, but he was also compassionate and caring both to her and to her friends and family. I have been a nurse for almost 39 years, and the care he provided was above and beyond.

He kept us updated on her condition, and when she was no longer able to fight and sustain life, he demonstrated the utmost respect and care for her. He even gave her sister, niece, me, and two of her other dear friends a special momento. In a very difficult situation, he was always willing to answer our questions and give us time to spend with her and say goodbye at the end of her life.

It's simply that he saw me as a person instead of just another patient. He went above and beyond for me to make me comfortable. I felt heard and seen the entire time I was there, and it was a good, calming experience, and I wish there were more nurses who make you feel like a human being again. He worked hard and took care of everyone!
