Her dedication as a student exceeded my expectations and positively contributed to the clinical experience.
I had the honor of being Marieana’s instructor during her Adult Nursing II Clinical rotation. Marieana approached patient care with the utmost professionalism and compassion. She had a true desire to learn and demonstrated effective communication while interacting with the instructor, patients, and the healthcare team. She demonstrated the ability to connect well with patients and staff while using sound clinical judgment to deliver safe and effective care within her scope. Marieana is also very gentle and supportive of her peers. Her dedication as a student exceeded my expectations and positively contributed to the clinical experience.
One day, we had a hypertensive patient who was disoriented and experiencing severe tachycardia. Marieana remained with the patient, monitoring frequently and reporting to the nurse. She was very attentive and reassuring. Due to close monitoring, she realized the patient’s condition was deteriorating and reported it to the nurse, who alerted the physician. They were able to institute timely, appropriate care, which significantly benefited the patient. Marieana’s attentiveness and willingness to go beyond her own assignment are indeed very commendable, and I am proud to recommend her for the DAISY Award for Outstanding Nursing Student.
