I have possibly spent more time in this hospital since April than out of it, and whilst the staff is just fantastic, it’s a very depressing life to live.

I had to return to emergency recently, four days after discharge, I was moved to the ward, this was my saving grace, as it meant that Sarah was my nurse.

Sarah embodies sunshine in its purest form. I was sobbing, and I could not stop. She comforted me by giving me space but talking with me in such a way that I felt listened to, feelings validated, understood, and most importantly justified in my grief. 

On top of this, her medical knowledge was efficient, excellent and gentle, fast to spot issues and have them fixed, very organised and still - positive and joyful.

Sarah just radiated joy, and having spent so much time in here, I can tell you it’s an absolute vital element in the healing process. As an example, Sarah returned for her shift early the next morning after a late shift, and I have no idea how - but she was even brighter and amazing the next day. You can’t help but smile and join in her enthusiasm; it’s wonderfully contagious.

Celebrating her contribution to this hospital is an absolute must, as she lights up a dim and miserable space as she expertly and confidently provides excellent care.
