Izzy's patient has been hospitalized for several months with a complex medical history. He has had minimal visits from family and has bonded with our staff and become part of our family. In an effort to keep him occupied, he was given a TV so that he could play online video games with his laptop. On this night shift, Izzy was working when the laptop crashed. Izzy called her Dad, who has great knowledge in IT, and talked to him by phone to try to get his computer running.

When that was unsuccessful, Izzy came in the late afternoon (on her day off) with 30-page color-printed instructions to reset his hard drive. Izzy was able to reset his computer, and our patient was so happy. Izzy utilized her personal resources and made the effort on her own time to fix his computer. If she had not advocated for her patient, no one else would have been able to help.

Her extreme caring makes me proud to be her colleague as she showcases the best in nursing. She wanted him to be happy, and his mind stimulated, and she went the extra mile to make that happen.
