Brooklyn was the primary nurse caring for one of our trauma patients. Throughout his stay, Brooklyn developed a special bond with him and his wife. I frequently witnessed their laughter through tears during his recovery. Brooklyn was always a ray of sunshine and inspiration for them both.

One of his last days in the trauma ICU, he shared with Brooklyn how important it was to give his wife a gift for Valentine's Day; to show her how much he loved her and thank her for her dedication during this traumatic time. Brooklyn took it upon herself to pack the patient up, take him downstairs to the gift shop, and allow him to purchase gifts for his wife.

She had to facilitate the use of his Apple Pay, get the gifts wrapped, and bring him back to his room. That small act of kindness and humanity made the patients' stay less traumatic, and the wife was overjoyed. Brooklyn did not think twice about what she did; it was very natural for her to be able to bless this couple. She always has a smile on her face and has a heart for service to others in need.
