My beautiful and perfect granddaughter is alive because of their quick and decisive response in assisting the midwife.
My daughter came into the OB department to deliver her first baby. As you can imagine, the unknown can be very frightening, especially when being induced and having no idea how long it will take to welcome this little life into the world.
From the moment we arrived, these two incredible nurses went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable, cared for, and calm, and that all her questions were answered. They were by her side anytime it was possible for the next 36 hours. When it came time for the actual delivery, they were there, cheering her on and supporting her in every way possible as if she were their own daughter.
What happens next is what makes them so very incredible. Unexpectedly, my sweet, precious granddaughter became stuck with both little shoulders lodged. When the room erupted in an emergency, these two women became our heroes. Without missing a beat, they jumped onto the bed trying to help push the little one out, and when that was unsuccessful, they got her into a position that allowed the midwife to finally deliver the baby.
They then went immediately and seamlessly to work on the baby, knowing exactly what to do to ensure her survival. My beautiful and perfect granddaughter is alive because of their quick and decisive response in assisting the midwife. Without them, we don't want to imagine what could have been the outcome. Even when the crisis was over, they didn't leave my daughter's side for well over an hour, just ensuring she was physically and emotionally intact.
We will forever be grateful to these two fearless, knowledgeable, and incredibly compassionate nurses, Amy and Sonni.
