Tony was my mom’s nurse during her short stay in the ICU. Admittedly, I was kind of skeptical of him when I first met him. Not long into his shift with my mom, his heart started showing, and it was obvious that he passionately loved his job, his patients, and the people who loved his patients. Being knowledgeable in his field, he could see what our family was about to endure, and he went above and beyond for our mom, going out of his way to keep our family comfortable and cared for. As my dad, who was watching the love of his life for 55 years, transitioned to heaven, Tony not only made sure she was comfortable and cared for but also made sure my dad was taking care of himself and understanding what was going on. He was not Mom’s nurse on the second or third day, but he filled in our other wonderful nurses, was nearby, checked on her and all of us, and kept up with his workload. My dad insisted he was hiding a halo under his nurse's cap. Mom was promoted to heaven, but during our time there, we experienced many blessings and glimpses of heaven, one of the greatest ones was ‘our’ nurse, Tony!
