I have worked at Baptist for 18 years. It has been a true honor of mine to walk beside every patient I have encountered during my time at Baptist. I was diagnosed with breast cancer roughly a year ago, and it has been quite the journey, to say the least. I have learned many things this past year, and God has shone a bright light within my life. One thing I have witnessed and come to understand more deeply is the beauty of a nurse. When you are scared, anxious, nervous, or in pain, it is the nurse who comes to your side with the hope of lightening your heart load. The nurse who is still connected to her why and passion shines the brightest. I was truly blessed when I got Zana as my RN, after 20 years serving on 7 East, it is very evident that she remains connected to her why and passion. She treated me with love, kindness, and patience, even when her load was full. She is the embodiment of what we should all strive to be as an RN. At times being an RN can be a thankless job, please help me in letting Zana know that I see her, appreciate her, and her light shines incredibly bright. Thankful that she walked into my room with a smile and helped me finish the surgery portion of my cancer journey. She is a blessing and one of the good ones, well, I should say great ones
