Mya was the nurse for a special needs patient in same-day surgery, and the patient had run into the lobby and didn't want to go back into the pre-op area. Mya was recognized by family members of the patient as well as other family members in the lobby area for treating the patient so kindly and using a multimodal approach to making the patient comfortable, while also efficiently calling the right people and making a great plan for the patient's comfort and compliance. She handled the situation with grace and with extraordinary care and expertise. She was compassionate and respectful while also being knowledgeable and safe.

It made a potentially dangerous situation de-escalate and ended up being a very positive experience for the patient, family, and onlookers alike.
