One morning husband and I drove to Essentia Health in Fargo so he could have a routine biopsy done. Well, little did we know that we came very close to having a life-changing day. My husband had his procedure done and wasn't feeling too well afterward. So, we walked out into the atrium so he could rest before heading out to the parking lot.

As we sat there, a nurse came from another department to use the ladies' room. And why she came at that time, I think God sent her. When she came out, she saw my husband and me still sitting there. Her nursing instincts went to work, and she walked directly towards us. She asked him, "Are you feeling ok?" And I quickly answered, "No, he's not." She immediately said he looked a little pale, introduced herself as a nurse at the facility, asked him a couple of questions, and went into action.

She called for the "First Responders" to come and also called other staff to assist. And in no time, had my husband down at the ER. They ran tests right away, and in a few minutes, said he was having a heart attack! So, they prepped him and took him away. The chaplain took me where I needed to go, bless her heart. They were able to help my husband and clean up his arteries.

We really, truly are so very thankful for your nurse, Autum Bauer, for being so attentive to everyone around her, even while trying to take a break! In our eyes, she saved my husband’s life that day. Had we left on our 45-minute drive home, I don't think both of us would have made it. We feel Autumn deserves to be honored and recognized for the extraordinary care she gave us. She is a real asset to your facility and to all who enter.

So, we want to say, "Thank you", Autum, for saving my husband’s life. You went above and beyond.
