I am a patient at the Amery Hospital Infusion Center for my Crohn’s disease. It is not often I am there on the same day as Erica, but when I am, it’s the best!

The first time I met her, I knew she was a great human and an exceptional Nurse. She talks with such care and passion. My infusion flew by, talking with her as if we were old friends. The second time, she remembered me. Over my journey with Crohn’s, I often feel like a number; she made me feel like a human, like myself. I finally felt seen.

I had questions about my labs, and she was so kind to explain them to me. She also knows I am in pre-nursing because I hope to someday be a nurse like her. She explained my labs to me so that I not only understood them, but also explained them to me, so that I also understood them better as a student. She truly cares about her patients.

She gets to know them; we are not just a number. To receive exceptional care, but also to feel as though I am not a burden, is something that is priceless. She is even raising future nurses, and I know her daughter will have the same passion she has. I have come across a lot of nurses over the last couple of years on my medical journey, and Erica is absolutely the most deserving recipient of the DAISY Award.
