He is the true definition of extraordinary.
Two parents nominated RG, the first stating, "We spent approximately nine hours downstairs prior to being admitted. We arrived just before turnover, and he assumed care of us at the start of the day shift. My daughter was going on day nine of a fever, an unfortunate misdiagnosis of pneumonia and a new diagnosis of mono!
We were beyond exhausted, to say the least. He introduced himself to us empathetically, politely, and respectfully. He listened to my worries and concerns, and he listened to my daughter and provided her with reassurance. He kept us informed and involved throughout the entire shift, including discharge. He acted as an advocate for my daughter and made sure all her needs were met. His care was compassionate and confident. He is the true definition of extraordinary. I pray that he is honored for his hard work, professionalism, and heart!”
The second parent stated, “RG was very compassionate towards his patient and made sure to include him in everything he was doing. He made us feel very comfortable, even in the short amount of time we were in the room. He made sure that all our needs were met and went above and beyond to make a very scary situation for an eight-year-old to be in feel like such a walk in the park.
RG was very thorough in making sure we knew everything that was going on currently and everything that we should come to expect. The level of care and attention that he gave my son during our visit is how I hope and pray every hospital stay is not just for us, but for every sick child that has to be in the hospital. Therefore, I nominate RG for the Daisy award for extraordinary nurses and would like to say thank you for making us feel so taken care of. Keep up the great work that you do. CHKD is very lucky to have you as a member of their team.”
