La historia de Marta no es la historia de un solo día ni de un hecho aislado. Es la historia de una enfermera que, cada día y a lo largo de muchos años, dedica a los pacientes su cariño y atención.
Con una actitud siempre positiva, una sonrisa inquebrantable y un espíritu de servicio hacia todos los pacientes y hacia todos los que trabajamos con ella, Marta está siempre dispuesta a ayudar.
En los afanes interminables de la consulta de cada día, en los trabajos de investigación y seguimiento de los pacientes, en las citaciones y reservas de pruebas para evitar esperas, en la atención de las casi infinitas llamadas de los pacientes… siempre está ahí.
Y sin horario personal. Soy testigo cada día de las horas “extras” que dedica para terminar lo que no ha podido durante su jornada oficial. Muchos días incluso le tengo que “obligar a irse a casa”, porque su familia la está esperando… pero su trabajo la retiene y no quiere dejarlo “para mañana”.
La historia de Marta es una historia diaria de servicio, entrega y generosidad que yo he visto en pocas personas a lo largo de mis ya 37 años de trabajo en la CUN.
Me da mucha pena no haber informado a los pacientes sobre este DAISY Award, pues estoy seguro de que muchos podrían aportar sus historias personales sobre cómo Marta ha estado siempre disponible y dispuesta a ayudarles en todos los problemas que surgen durante sus visitas a Digestivo.
English Translation:
Marta’s story is not the story of a single day or an isolated event. It is the story of a nurse who, every day and over the course of many years, devotes her affection and attention to her patients.
With an unfailingly positive attitude, an unwavering smile, and a spirit of service toward every patient—as well as everyone who works alongside her—Marta is always ready to help.
Amidst the endless bustle of daily clinic appointments, the work involved in patient research and follow-up, the scheduling of appointments and diagnostic tests to minimize wait times, and the handling of an almost infinite number of patient calls... she is always there.
And she works without regard for personal hours. I witness firsthand, every single day, the "extra" time she dedicates to finishing tasks she couldn't complete during her official shift. Many days, I even have to "force her to go home" because her family is waiting for her... yet her work holds her back, as she refuses to leave anything "for tomorrow."
Marta’s story is a daily saga of service, dedication, and generosity—qualities I have rarely encountered in others throughout my 37 years of working at the CUN.
I deeply regret not having informed our patients about this DAISY Award nomination; I am certain that many of them could have shared their own personal stories of how Marta has always been available and eager to assist them with any issues that arose during their visits to the Gastroenterology Department.
