He was always patient when called for help and had a smile on his face.
Timothy started his shift, taking over my care, around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Immediately, he noticed 3 IVIG bottles hanging from the previous night and cleaned up the area. He took vitals and gave me and my husband a brief update on my platelets levels which calmed our nerves, he explained how great progress that was, making me feel less stressed.
Once the doctor gave orders to stay another night and more IV, Timothy got it started slowly, adjusting the rate, checking in before the 30-minute mark, because he asked how I did with the first IV treatment. He set a plan with us on how to increase it before letting the IV get empty and bubble up, that’s what happened the last time, and my head felt heavy. He did awesome, I was able to tolerate the IVIG at a faster rate, no heavy head feeling, and he was ready to swap IV’s before it ran completely empty and got all the air bubbles out.
My husband and I noticed right away that Timothy was very well organized and on it. He cleaned up after himself after connecting a new IV. He threw the empty one away. It’s the little things that count. Reminding you that when he started his shift, he had to throw away all 3 IV glass bottles from Wednesday, none of which he administered. He helped me wrap my IV area to be able to shower and explained to my husband not to leave me alone and call for help if needed.
He was always patient when called for help and had a smile on his face. All other RNs were nice too; Timothy just stood out for his work performance and structure. He did a good job and tried to keep the patient comfortable, rushing in to make it happen and still clean after himself.
