From the very beginning, Elias transformed what could’ve been a frightening and uncomfortable night into something my daughter now talks about with excitement.
Elias was amazing about caring for my 98-year-old mother-in-law.  He told us when he would be back; when he could not, another nurse stepped in.  It demonstrated great teamwork.

Last night, I brought my 2-year-old to the ED with symptoms that appeared to be hand, foot, and mouth. We were in the ED from 9 pm until 4 am, and although that is a long time to be in the hospital, I can honestly say the wait was never a concern. That’s because of the level of care we received from the clinical team, especially from Elias, who was nothing short of extraordinary.

From the very beginning, Elias transformed what could’ve been a frightening and uncomfortable night into something my daughter now talks about with excitement. He was warm, engaging, and compassionate. Elias made the experience “fun” in a way that only someone with an incredible gift for pediatric care could do. She was thrilled with her “toe hat” and still talks about the watermelon popsicle, which was truly the cherry on top.

Even more impressively, Elias was able to get her to take her medication and complete a strep swab without a single tear. As any parent of a toddler knows, that’s no small feat. I honestly don’t know what kind of magic Elias is made of, but I do know that we are incredibly fortunate to have him here at Maine General. His ability to connect with young patients, combined with his clinical skill and calm presence, makes him an exceptional nurse and a remarkable human being.

This experience reminded me of the incredible talent and heart we have within our organization. Elias truly went above and beyond, and for that, I am sincerely grateful.
