She is an educator, scholar, and nurse in the truest sense of all these words. She is an advocate for students and patients alike, extending her reach to anyone who needs it.
Throughout my time in the Boise State University nursing program, Dr. Ryoko Kausler served as my guide and mentor through every step of the process. Through my time as her research assistant, she gave me the agency and autonomy to learn new skills with grace and kindness while still directing me with her vast knowledge when I got stuck or made mistakes.

In her research class, I learned the importance of evidence-based practice, and her passion for our well-being as students and the future of research stood out in every one of her lectures. Without her support, I would not have had the confidence to pursue my dreams of becoming a researcher myself, and she consistently reminded me that I was not only capable but worthy of reaching new heights. Even when she was busy running multiple studies and teaching numerous classes, she found time to meet with me about my goals and answer emails when I was overwhelmed.

Furthermore, she has dedicated her energies to studying maternal mental health and how to make it more accessible for vulnerable populations, opening avenues in not just one hospital but any setting that implements her fantastic work.

She is an educator, scholar, and nurse in the truest sense of all these words. She is an advocate for students and patients alike, extending her reach to anyone who needs it. I believe she embodies the principles of what the DAISY Award means, contributing to the experiences of everyone around her with the nursing principles of beneficence and authenticity guiding everything she does. It has been an honor to work with and learn from her.
