Ricky showed exceptional compassion, dedication, and commitment to others. During my Intermediate Med-Surg rotation, a registered nurse independently praised a West Coast University student on a different rotation for being exceptionally smart and clinically strong. After hearing her description, I confirmed she was referring to my classmate Ricky.

This unsolicited recognition speaks to the professionalism, competence, and integrity he consistently brings to patient care. That same commitment is evident in the way Ricky supports his peers. For multiple terms, he has arrived hours before every class and hosted study sessions purely out of a desire to help others succeed. He comes prepared with thoughtful questions designed to challenge us, test our knowledge, and strengthen our understanding of the material. He also provides valuable resources such as books and study materials to support our learning, all while working full-time as a PCA.

Ricky’s intelligence is matched by his patience and humility. He never makes anyone feel inadequate for not understanding a concept. Instead, he meets people where they are and works with them until the material truly clicks, creating a safe and supportive environment that builds confidence and encourages growth. Beyond academics and healthcare, Ricky leads with faith and integrity. He is deeply grounded in his relationship with God and shares monthly prayers that motivate, comfort, and remind others of their purpose during stressful times.
