Candace embodies the spirit of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award — leading with integrity, strength, and compassion every single day.
Candace’s dedication to the pediatric population is unwavering. The safety and well-being of her patients are always her top priority. She is a fierce advocate for vulnerable children and has never hesitated to act when she suspects abuse or neglect, ensuring appropriate reporting and protection. Her courage and attention to detail have made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless children and families. Her passion for complex pediatric populations, especially children with Short Bowel Syndrome and those requiring specialized GI care, has shaped her career.
Even as an RN Supervisor for over seven years at the Pediatric Specialty Clinic at Carrie Tingley Hospital, she remains hands-on in patient care. Families rely on her expertise and compassion, and she has even quietly provided clothing and supplies out of her own pocket to ensure patients’ needs are met. As a leader, Candace sets the standard. She is clinically exceptional, quick to step in during staffing shortages, and always willing to assist with the most challenging patient situations. She leads beside her team, not above them, creating an environment of trust, confidence, and support. Staff describe her as inspiring, consistent, and deeply invested in their growth. Her leadership extends beyond her clinic, serving as a trusted resource for fellow supervisors and continuously working to improve quality, safety, and team development. Candace embodies the spirit of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award — leading with integrity, strength, and compassion every single day. It is with great pride that we recognize her for this honor.
