Her legacy isn't just in the countless lives she has touched but in the countless individuals she has inspired to strive for excellence.
As a mentor, she continues to offer perspective and advice from her 20+ years at AGH. Cindy has worked for years servicing patients, calming nurses, and assisting physicians in need. It really helps to always have her there for the hard questions and decisions. She provides continued mentorship in situations and debriefs with all team members to hold us accountable while learning at the same time. She has been a gentle touch and a kind heart for when whispers are needed. She can create calm in a moment of great intensity.

When guidance is needed, she can be firm. She can steer the team toward the common goal or guide the ship back on course. She has allowed us to grow together, but steps back if needed to let others shine and learn. She has supported us when we are down or running on fumes. When codes have been impossible, outcomes futile, Cindy is there to find the good in our team. She has gotten us through COVID, cried with us, and held out hands in the face of defeat. She has been the consistent glue that has somehow stayed with us all this time. She is our flashlight at night and our daytime sunlight burning bright.

For over two decades, Cindy's presence as an AGH nurse has been synonymous with expertise and compassionate leadership. She isn't just a nurse; she is "the calm in the storm," as described by a PDP nurse, and guides both new and seasoned professionals through the complexities of patient care. Her influence extends beyond the bedside, shaping the practice of new nurses with training and educating physicians on the nuances of critical patient care.

A Manager of Hospital Operations shares that she admires Cindy's ease at walking into a Rapid Response and introducing herself to new residents, physicians, and immediately calming a chaotic scenario with her patience and professionalism. Her calm demeanor literally provides reassurance amidst the urgency of life and death situations. Her knowledge is a readily available resource to nurses and physicians alike, consistently seeking her guidance for a second opinion.

Recently, a senior Trauma ICU RN, a veteran in her own right, confided in Cindy that she wants to be her when she grows up. This entire nomination is a testament to Cindy's profound influence as a bedside clinical leader, shaping not only patient outcomes but also the future of nursing within the hospital. Her legacy isn't just in the countless lives she has touched but in the countless individuals she has inspired to strive for excellence.
