They not only saved a life, but also ensured safe transfer, provided emotional support, and demonstrated compassionate follow-up care—fully reflecting the spirit and values of the DAISY Award.
The NMC SHAHBA CODE BLUE Team exemplified extraordinary collaboration, professionalism, and compassion. They not only saved a life through expert clinical care but also provided emotional support and ensured a safe transfer for continued treatment. NMC Shahba has saved many lives both before and after this incident, and the CODE BLUE team consistently manages emergency situations with skill and confidence, responding to critical cases on a frequent basis. Their actions made a life-changing difference and represent the very best of nursing and interdisciplinary teamwork.
I am honoured to nominate the NMC SHAHBA CODE BLUE Team for the DAISY Team Award in recognition of their outstanding teamwork, clinical expertise, and compassionate care demonstrated during a life-threatening emergency.
Our team encountered a critical situation involving a 38-year-old female who arrived at the clinic. Shortly thereafter, she experienced a sudden respiratory arrest, prompting immediate activation of the CODE BLUE team.
Within moments, the team responded with exceptional efficiency, precision, and calm. Each member demonstrated a clear understanding of their role, communicated effectively, and worked seamlessly under immense pressure. Rapid response measures and high-quality resuscitation were initiated without delay. Dr. Ribhu Goel expertly managed the airway by inserting a Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA), while the nursing team provided outstanding support throughout the resuscitation process. Their professionalism, confidence, and coordinated approach were exemplary.
Due to their swift and highly skilled intervention, the patient’s life was saved. Following stabilization, the patient was safely transferred by ambulance to Al Qasmia Hospital for further management. This outcome powerfully illustrates the profound impact that expert nursing care and strong interdisciplinary teamwork can have in the most critical situations.
What made this experience especially meaningful was when the patient later returned to the clinic to personally thank the team. Seeing her walk in smiling and expressing her heartfelt gratitude was deeply moving and brought many of us to tears. Her words of appreciation were a true testament to the compassion, dedication, and exceptional care she received during one of the most critical moments of her life.
This experience clearly highlights the strength, unity, and unwavering commitment of the NMC SHAHBA CODE BLUE Team. They not only saved a life, but also ensured safe transfer, provided emotional support, and demonstrated compassionate follow-up care—fully reflecting the spirit and values of the DAISY Award.
For their outstanding teamwork, clinical excellence, and unwavering compassion that made a life-changing difference, I wholeheartedly nominate the NMC SHAHBA CODE BLUE Team for the DAISY Team Award.
