To whom it may concern: I am writing to commend Laura. I had an ER visit on Dec 7t, for a high heart rate. I am very anxious about going to the hospital emergency room; her care was excellent, and she went above and beyond to help me feel safe and cared for. In addition to her medical expertise, she helped me be more comfortable and calmer in an otherwise uncomfortable situation.

Please pass along my thanks to her, and thank you for employing such a fine nurse. My fiancée has been in the ED twice recently. Once for colitis and one for serotonin syndrome. Laura was her nurse both times, at least for a good portion of her stay in the ED. She is so compassionate, professional, attentive, and caring.

She not only provides excellent care but also anticipates patients' needs and offers items of comfort. She has an extraordinary bedside manner that isn't often found in healthcare anymore. She is truly one of a kind nurses and someone I actually trust to provide care to my family members. She is amazing.

I have been to the APD ED twice since July 2020, both times with cellulitis after surgery for cancer and cellulitis from lymphedema. Amazingly, and so providentially, she was the nurse who greeted me and cared for me when admitted. Both times, I was immediately struck by her calm kindness, her knowledge, and her ability to get a lot done without seeming hurried.

Most of all, though, I feel she has a true ability to connect, even through a patient's pain and anxiety, and that resulted in such a calming force for me. I am not being very eloquent, as I am still at APD, but I feel strongly that she deserves recognition for being an amazing person and nurse. The most powerful thing I can say is that when I saw she was going to be my nurse this time, I immediately felt calmer. She inspires a huge amount of trust and confidence-I feel confident that every patient of hers feels this way.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been in her care. Laura was one of the many wonderful nurses in the ER who took wonderful care of me.

P.S. And she was once a Peace Corps volunteer in Suriname, too!
