I was receiving cancer treatment for multiple myeloma directed by the RMCC St. Peregrine clinic. This treatment was called IVIG, which I receive every month. There were four nurses on duty at this time. Their names were: Theresa, Katie, ShaneaRea, and Laura.

At approximately 10 a.m. (halfway through my scheduled hour-and-45-min treatment), I started to get really cold, and then I quickly progressed to 'full freezing chills' to the point that I could barely voice any requests for aid or raise my arms for help. I was quickly getting totally physically incapacitated, but still aware of all my surroundings. Nurse Teresa noticed that I was in some type of medical distress and quickly activated their 'patient in medical distress protocols' for that type of situation, and the next thing I noticed, I had four nurses surrounding me with a medical cart full of specialized equipment, going to work.

They quickly analyzed that I was having a severe adverse reaction to my treatment and implemented corrective procedures to counter these adverse reactions to the medication I was getting. When my enhanced medical treatment and patient monitoring phases had ended, I was turned over to my wife who drove me home at or about 11:30a. Now to the purpose of this correspondence: I have been receiving treatment from RMCC for 4.5 years so you could say I am a regular customer and as a 'regular' you get to know how things work on a day to day routine operation.

Since I am "kind of old," I have been around long enough to the point that I have gained a lot of background experience to be able to logically evaluate how an effective first response/specialized team operates. With 22 years of military combat exposure and experience, 20 years of mountain search and rescue operations, plus a past certified member for 5 years of the El Paso County Hazardous Material Response Team, I have worked and evaluated many very small specialized teams. So when I encountered my personalized medical situation, I quickly noticed that each nurse who worked with me knew exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to do it efficiently and without the need for any unnecessary communication or action.

They told me exactly what they were doing to me and kept me informed at each level of care. Now this is true, I may or may not have been in a true life threatening situation at that time, I am not the judge of that, but when it is 'you' who need medical help, it is really comforting to be receiving that help from a medical team that knows exactly what it is doing and doing it in a professional and efficient manner. So on that day, I had that special team to treat me. So please, company-wide, recognize these four outstanding and professional healthcare individuals in the most appropriate manner a company such as yours can do. They deserve it.
