Alaina Watts displayed fantastic leadership during the first TNK and stay-patient encounter at Parkridge. Alaina assessed the situation from many angles, ensuring that at the core of this monumental event, the patient was well cared for and their safety was always at the forefront.

Alaina networked feverishly, making many phone calls to ensure that Parkridge would be able to accommodate the patient safely after the administration of TNK. She weighed all the pros and cons of the patient's history, communicated clearly with both the hospital team and neurology to determine that the patient was safe to stay at Parkridge.

Alaina reached out to the stroke program as well, covering all bases to ensure we, collectively, were doing right by the patient. She stayed with the ED team post TNK administration and also coordinated for ED personnel to be present in the ICU when the patient was ready for admission. This allowed for a smooth transition and continuity of care.

Alaina embodies what it means to create an environment where trust, compassion, mutual respect, and professional development exist. She encourages her staff to better themselves and look towards the future, and what new changes will come that they can use to help better care for their patients. Alaina is a shining example of a fantastic nurse leader.
