I had a CT Scan with contrast today at Riddle Hospital, and after running late and not being able to find parking, I had the good fortune of having Luke Rudy as my nurse. He was not only my nurse, but he also walked me through my entire procedure thoroughly and answered every question I had. His kindness radiates from him as I’ve never experienced before in a medical setting.
His ability to listen to not only my medical history but also my personal struggles with siblings and their mental issues really went above and beyond the call of duty. When I heard he was studying psychiatry, I was eager to get his insight on some serious mental health issues in my family, and he was happy to give his professional opinion. He asked about my kids, and I shared how I had a stillborn baby 2 years ago, and he was very compassionate about it.
We talked parenthood and mental health, but also causes and treatments for heart issues - like hereditary high cholesterol and/or plaque buildup in the arteries (which is what I was there for), and he was so knowledgeable in the field, you would think he was the cardiologist! He told me everything I was taking and how it would make me feel, side effects, etc. Made me comfortable, giving me blankets and just overall going above and beyond the entire hour and a half I was there.
It was truly the best appointment I’ve had all because of him. Riddle is lucky to have him because he just exudes warmth and kindness, and that’s what every patient is looking for and rarely finds. He deserves this; he is one in a million in my opinion.
Side note: He left me a very detailed voicemail the day before my appoinmentt telling me how to prepare. It was perfect, and so bubbly I thought it was an AI recording at first! Then he called me back for my appointment and actually pronounced my last name right, which never happens, and he said he remembered it from the voicemail. He's not your average healthcare provider.

I am a 42-year-old mother of a 9-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy, and an angel baby girl in heaven. I also have an amazing husband of 12 years who works incredibly hard for our family as a civil engineer. I am a guest host on QVC, and I sell accessories, so I am in the people-pleasing business of on-air sales. I meet a lot of “phonies” but a lot of genuine people as well, and I think I’ve become very good at spotting the difference.
Luke stood out to me right away as one of the genuine ones. It’s rare that you come across someone like him. As stated before, I lost a baby girl suddenly at 21 weeks in 2023, and I was 40 at the time. Devastated and heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover it. Since then, I’ve been hyper-vigilant about doctor appointments, and certain places and procedures still trigger an emotional response.
Even getting a blood pressure cuff put on can sometimes make me instantly start crying over my loss. So I’m hypercritical about the doctors I choose and hospitals, but I don’t get to choose the nurses and people who schedule the sits, who have sometimes been so cold that they’ve made me start sobbing on the phone over their callousness.
Luke has been the first person I’ve met who really stood out as an angel on earth and someone every patient should have the privilege of experiencing. I’ve lived in Delco pretty much my entire life and was born at Riddle Hospital, so it’s encouraging to see such amazing staff there. I hope this helps. God bless.
