These acts of compassion show how committed she is to taking care of patients and going above and beyond the call of duty.
Sierra is one of the amazing RNs who has been assigned to my mother. My mother received hard news from her best friend, who is also battling cancer and nearing the end, and is admitted to a different unit. My mother is currently in a unit which is locked down d/t the risk of infection, patients are susceptible to, and cannot leave the unit unless medically necessary.
My mother received this news about her best friend, and she was able to offer my mother an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. My mother was unsure what could be done, but requested to see her best friend just for a couple of minutes at her door, just so she could say possibly her last goodbyes to her. Without missing a beat, she was on the phone immediately and had gotten approval from the PA for my mother to see her best friend and had the permission for her to enter the room and be able to hug her best friend.
These acts of compassion show how committed she is to taking care of patients and going above and beyond the call of duty. As an Aurora RN myself, I can say without a doubt that she embodies all the Aurora Commitments and Behaviors towards her patients. We cannot thank her enough for giving my mother this one last chance to be with her best friend, even for a few minutes.
