I am nominating RN Liezl Argonza because she showed extraordinary compassion and humanity in a moment when a patient needed it most. The patient, who had complex medical needs, was overwhelmed with anxiety before her MRI. She was frightened, worried about sedation, and requested a female transporter to feel safe. Instead of simply coordinating care from a distance—especially during an already demanding shift—Liezl chose to personally be there for her. Liezl came down to the MRI herself, gently reassuring the patient, staying at her side, and making sure every concern was heard and addressed. She offered not just clinical support, but true emotional comfort—helping the patient feel protected, understood, and no longer alone in such a vulnerable moment. Her presence brought calm to the patient and relief to the MRI team, who could see the immediate impact of her kindness. Liezl’s actions were the embodiment of what it means to advocate for a patient with both skill and heart. She didn’t just do her job—she transformed a fearful experience into one filled with dignity, safety, and compassion. Liezl reminds us all why nursing is a calling, and I am deeply grateful for the light she brings to her patients and peers.
