I find Laylah to have all the qualities that make an excellent nurse. She is intelligent, compassionate, and relentless in obtaining the best possible outcomes for her patients. She treats each one of her patients as if they were a family member.

I was admitted as a patient in the female surgical unit in Al Qassimi Hospital after a very stressful experience. Before arriving at the hospital, I was in a very bad condition because of fractures in the neck vertebrae, bruises, and severe wounds in the back after falling on the escalators at the airport while trying to catch my flight, and also because I lost the flight appointment and was not traveling to my family.

I lost my luggage and lost my phone as I couldn't communicate with my family and tell them what happened to me, and I was in pain, upset, worried, and crying.  When nurse Laylah noticed me crying. She didn’t just walk past; she stopped, sat with me, and listened with so much care and patience. She showed me kindness at a time when I felt helpless and alone. But what touched me the most was that she went beyond her normal nursing duties. She reached out to the airport staff, helped find my missing phone, and even tracked down my lost bags.

Because of her, I was able to reconnect with my family and finally feel at peace. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine concern for me made all the difference during my stay. She cared for me not only as a patient, but as a person in her family. I truly believe she embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award and deserves this recognition for being the extraordinary nurse that she is.
