Knowing that Ellie is my baby's nurse puts my mind and heart completely at ease. Ellie has a heart of gold and 100% has found her calling.
A little over a year ago, we were given the gift of having Ellie be our son’s first nurse in the NICU. I remember being wheeled into our son’s NICU room after an emergency C-section, terrified and emotional after not being able to see my son for hours as we both were being stabilized. Ellie immediately began explaining everything to us and gave us a full rundown of our son’s care and what we missed. She was so calm and tender with us.
I remember watching her care for my son as she was reassuring us and thinking, “This woman loves her job." She cared for our baby like he was family to her, as I’m sure she does with all her patients. Her knowledge was endless, and we watched her work with confidence and skill. We will never forget how blessed we were to have Ellie’s loving hands be the ones to care for our son’s first few hours of life when I could not.
After talking with her more, I was confident that despite the hours we had to spend apart from our son, he still only ever felt loved and safe because he was under her care. We had our second baby, who also needed the NICU in December of 2025. I was over the freaking moon when I walked into our daughter’s room yesterday and saw Ellie’s name written on the whiteboard. What a wonderful joy that both of my babies got blessed with having Ellie’s energy and top-notch care in the early days of their lives.
Once again, she absolutely stunned me with her skill while caring for my baby. She is so talented and competent at her job. Knowing that Ellie is my baby's nurse puts my mind and heart completely at ease. Ellie has a heart of gold and 100% has found her calling. I wholeheartedly believe she was meant to become a NICU nurse.
I am a long-distance critical care paramedic, so I have met tons of nurses from all over the Midwest, and Ellie is truly unique. I want to recognize her glowing compassion and dedication to her profession. Her knowledge goes above and beyond, and she always goes the extra mile for her patients and their families. She conducts herself with extraordinary professionalism while simultaneously making the NICU feel like home. She managed to turn one of the hardest days of my family’s life into a sacred, beautiful experience. Ellie will forever be part of our family’s story.
