She didn’t fill the silence with empty words; she simply offered comfort and presence.
Jessica showed extraordinary compassion and kindness. My daughter was recently brought to the emergency department for a psychiatric evaluation after her mental health began to decline. As her mother, I was terrified, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to navigate the process. She is my only daughter—my baby—and watching her struggle broke me.

I was emotional, frustrated, and scared. I raised my voice at times out of fear and exhaustion, and I hated everything about the situation I was in. Through it all, Jessica was patient, calm, and kind. She listened without judgment as I vented my fears and frustrations. She took the time to explain what was happening and reassured me every step of the way.

Jessica went above and beyond to care for my daughter—not only medically, but emotionally. She brought her snacks, helped fix her hair, and made sure she felt safe and respected during an incredibly difficult time. When I reached the point where I was physically and emotionally drained, I decided to go home to rest. Jessica noticed my distress and walked me to the exit. That’s when I broke down completely.

I cried uncontrollably, terrified for my daughter. Jessica didn’t just say goodbye and walk away—she stood with me. She held me as I cried. She didn’t fill the silence with empty words; she simply offered comfort and presence. She shared a bit about her own experience as a mother and reminded me that I wasn’t alone.

She promised to keep me updated about my daughter, even though she didn’t have to. Jessica’s empathy and compassion made a lasting impact on my family and me. In one of the darkest and most frightening moments of my life, she showed light, humanity, and grace. I will never forget the way she cared for both my daughter and me.
