Through his collaboration, advocacy, and unwavering support, he has made a lasting impact on both individual nurses and the broader team culture.
I am honored to recognize Dennis Weld for his exceptional dedication to nursing education and support.
He is consistently positive, approachable, and thoughtful, creating a welcoming learning environment where nurses feel safe asking questions and growing in confidence. This plays a key role in improving retention and making this a great place to work. When people feel seen and supported from the start, they’re much more likely to stick around—and he’s a big part of making that happen.
His organized, detailed, personalized, and intentional check-ins with team members demonstrates a deep commitment to individual success, ensuring that each nurse and pca feels supported, heard, and prepared to care for our Sofias.
Dennis is especially impactful in supporting new graduate nurses. Through encouragement, advocacy, and constructive feedback, he helps build confidence and competence during orientation. He is a strong advocate for learners and collaborates seamlessly with colleagues to ensure high-quality education and patient care.
In addition to his primary responsibilities, he willingly assists others during gaps in ROSS coverage, exemplifying teamwork and selflessness. His participation in ACED days and the Mega Code Skills Fair was instrumental in strengthening the team’s clinical skills, critical thinking, and readiness for high-acuity situations.
He has also been instrumental in getting the IMCU up and running, enrolling the team in the ICU academy, following up on course completion, and reviewing competencies during their orientation shifts. Prior to becoming a ROSS, this individual was a highly valued and appreciated preceptor and mentor.
Through his collaboration, advocacy, and unwavering support, he has made a lasting impact on both individual nurses and the broader team culture.
He truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Educator Award and is highly deserving of this recognition.
