At every turn, she went above and beyond in her care for my mother and in keeping me informed and reassured.
Rachel is the nurse responsible for my mother's Swing Bed program. From the beginning, Rachel was very detailed and diligent in keeping me informed of progress. On numerous occasions, Rachel called me to simply give me updates even though those updates were not required or, in my opinion, were not her responsibility. I had mentioned a concern I had, and she took it upon herself to contact the administration to make sure it was followed through with. Definitely not her responsibility. She simply wanted to do the right thing. Rachel has a big heart. At every turn, she went above and beyond in her care for my mother and in keeping me informed and reassured. She took the time to go over details of my mother's insurance to reassure us that it was taken care of. When we had more questions, she would educate us on whether she knew or had to research to get the answer. The day before my mother was to be discharged, we had a meeting where it was recommended that my mother have one more test. Immediately upon getting the results, Rachel called to inform me that it was not good, and my mother had to stay longer. Without prompting, she once again went over the insurance to reassure us about what was covered. There were numerous instances of her stopping me in the hallway to further explain my mother's progress, my concerns for her cognitive issues, and providing recommendations for services outside the hospital for future care. Rachel obviously loves her job and truly cares for her patients. I could go on and on about the many different instances, but it all boils down to Rachel simply being an angel. The hospital is lucky to have her, and so are the patients she cares for. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Thanks to all of the wonderful staff who oversaw my mother's care. It was overwhelmingly positive.
