I had the privilege of being cared for by this nurse who consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism, compassion, and clinical judgment. While all other nurses were wonderful, this nurse stood out for going above and beyond in every interaction. The moments that highlight the outstanding level of care they provided while here at Methodist were when I was experiencing severe pain during an IV flush. This nurse immediately recognized that something was wrong and advised the team to wait. Later, we realized with CT confirmation a misplacement of my drain line. On another occasion, when there were possible signs of infection due to high fevers, this nurse acted quickly without hesitation, appropriately by calling a sepsis alert. This helped ensure fast coordinated care for me. Each time there was an issue, this nurse took the initiative to seek the answers, coordinate with the team, and make sure every avenue of care was addressed. I want to recognize that, most importantly, from the moment this nurse walked into my room, they showed a unique intuition that something wasn’t right. This nurse remained attentive, observant, and never dismissed any of my concerns. Their ability to listen, validate, and scan a room to act promptly made all the difference in my care. Not only did this nurse respond with genuine compassion, but they also continuously followed up, checking on me, even after direct tasks were done, and making sure every concern I raised was taken seriously. I always felt I could truly count on this nurse, and that level of presence and dedication is rare. I want to leave on this note that this nurse embodies the spirit of this Award. Their compassion, intuition, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to patient safety make them an exceptional nurse now and, undoubtedly, an extraordinary one in the years ahead. I am deeply grateful for the care they provided, and I believe they deserve the highest recognition for the difference they made in my life. Thank you.
