Because of them, my labor and postpartum experience was not only safe but filled with compassion, dignity, and reassurance.
When I was admitted for labor, I had the most amazing team of midwives and nurses. Each one was incredibly patient and supportive, shift after shift. Angela and Ashley Franklin (CNM) admitted me, and they were extraordinary. Robin (CNM) and Michelle stayed by my side for the next 12 hours, going above and beyond with exceptional care, kindness, and hospitality.
Though some may have been small in stature, they carried the hearts and hands of giants—caring for me with such grace, strength, and compassion. Later, Janelle and Lindsay (CNM) continued that same standard of excellence. My wants, needs, and requests never once felt like a burden. Even while I was asleep, Michelle was proactive and attentive, carefully monitoring me to ensure my safety and comfort, as well as my unborn baby at the time.
I also want to recognize Amy, the charge nurse on the day I gave birth, who was incredibly supportive and reassuring during such a critical time. The Mother and Baby recovery team was just as remarkable. Sky, Sandie, Barbara, Amanda, and Ashtyn made sure I had everything I needed and felt fully supported during those 48 hours. I also want to acknowledge Monica Jones, LPN, who was my very first nurse at my initial prenatal appointment. She supported me at the start of my pregnancy and again postpartum, and her care has stayed with me throughout this journey.
If there were more than one DAISY Award to give, this entire medical team would deserve them all. In my most vulnerable moments, they stood by my side, held my hand, comforted me, guided me, and encouraged me. Because of them, my labor and postpartum experience was not only safe but filled with compassion, dignity, and reassurance. I am truly thankful for each of them and will never forget the difference they made in my journey.
