I have seen Nick go above and beyond his job description many times. On one occasion, a male resident began to get upset and break down and cry because he missed his wife. Nick was walking by and stopped when he heard the resident crying. He went into the room to comfort the resident and speak with him.

Nick will go out of his way to attend nurse aide graduations at the SMH campus just to congratulate the students and say "Hi." Nick has come into work early to sit with a student who needed a separate testing room, so I could stay with the rest of the students in the education center while they tested. Nick has helped a fellow coworker who had an emergency at work and needed to go to the hospital.

In all my interactions with Nick, he has always shown respect and displayed kindness. Not only to me but also to all of those around him. He exudes compassion and is a leader to many. Pete Hoeskstra says it best, "Real leadership is leaders recognizing that they serve the people that they lead." Nick has shown this quality time after time. He cares about those he leads. He serves with his heart and shows the love of the Lord.
