From the moment I was assigned to Sue in the SSU, I knew Sue was going to be helpful and easy to talk to, understand, and heal with. Sue answered every question in terms that I could understand, gave real recommendations, and relatable personal experiences that naturally put me at ease during a chaotic and challenging time. A specific example would include on day 4 of my stay, explaining my condition to my elderly parents, who are hard of hearing - her patience was exceptional! Also, I particularly loved that she celebrated my victories, and when my heart Cath results came back negative for blockages, she seemed genuinely excited with me!

I would also like to mention that Sue treated my husband, who didn’t leave my side the entire time, with dignity and respect, which was much appreciated due to his recent knee injury, which made mobility and sitting uncomfortable and not ideal for him. He wasn’t even patient, and she made him feel heard and accommodated. Sue is an asset to the nursing community and to Advent Health. Her humor, professionalism, and humbleness are a rare combination in an employee and warrant recognition.
