The phrase "go above and beyond" doesn't capture it when it comes to Kylie. She is truly meant to be an L&D nurse and is wonderful at her calling.
I came in late one evening at 35 weeks pregnant with contractions. This is my third baby, and I require a C-section delivery, so I was obviously concerned. Kylie was my nurse for observation to monitor the contractions and my baby. She was very calming and reassuring. Luckily, I was cleared and discharged home.

Exactly two weeks later, I woke up around 5:30 am to what I thought was my water breaking, again concerned because I required C sections, but also excited because I knew my baby was coming that day. I turned my bedroom light on only to find, to my absolute horror, that I was extensively bleeding. On top of that, my stomach was rock hard, and I could not feel my baby move.

I called my husband, who was on his daily commute to work in Memphis. He was 45 minutes away, and I could not wait for him. My mother was on her way to meet me at the hospital, and my sister-in-law was headed to my house from the next neighborhood to be with my other two sleeping children. I drove myself to the hospital. Once in the ED, I was immediately placed in a transport chair to go to L/D, and by the time I rounded the corner toward the patient elevators, I saw Kylie sprinting down the hallway toward me. It was comforting to see her.

Once in L&D, I was quickly hooked up to the monitor. I felt as though I had been holding my breath since I woke up to the blood, so there were no words to describe the flood of relief and joy I felt when I heard my baby's strong heartbeat. I couldn't hold back the tears. Neither could Kylie. She told me it had been a very rough shift that night, and she was thankful to end on a good note.

My baby was delivered an hour later that night, and Kylie, who was on the L&D side, made a point to come check on my baby and me on the postpartum side. I will forever be grateful for her meticulous care and dedication to her profession. The phrase "go above and beyond" doesn't capture it when it comes to Kylie. She is truly meant to be an L&D nurse and is wonderful at her calling. I am beyond thankful to have her consistent care during two separate visits, one being worrisome and the other terrifying.
