Nurse Sherree is more than a nurse—she is a healer, a mentor, and a shining example of what nursing excellence looks like.
From the moment I delivered my first baby, Nurse Sherree was by my side, and I will never forget the care and compassion she gave me during one of the most vulnerable and important times of my life.
She was my nurse for three nights, and in those nights, she became my source of comfort, strength, and support. She is not only compassionate and kind, but also an incredibly skilful nurse. She helped me with my ambulation when I could barely move, always encouraging me with gentle words and steady hands. She was there when I struggled with breastfeeding, guiding me with patience until I felt confident feeding my baby on my own.
Her knowledge and calm demeanour made every challenge feel manageable. She always made sure I received my pain medications on time and even came to check on me without being called. Her attentiveness made me feel seen and cared for on a deeply human level. It was clear she wasn’t just doing her job—she was practicing her calling with compassion and dedication.
Later, I was lucky to have her again during the baby massage classes. She taught with the same patience and professionalism I had come to admire. Although I wasn’t able to attend all of the classes, she made sure I could catch up on the lessons I missed. Thanks to her, I learned all the massage strokes, and to this day, my baby still enjoys every one of them. Those special bonding moments are a gift she gave to both of us.
Nurse Sherree is more than a nurse—she is a healer, a mentor, and a shining example of what nursing excellence looks like. Her empathy, skill, and devotion to both mother and baby truly embody the spirit of the DAISY Award. I am forever grateful for her presence during my postpartum journey.
