There are not enough nurses who show such compassion to others as she showed to my daughter from the time she walked in that hospital room in the ER until after she delivered.
I rushed my daughter from her home to USA Women's and Children's in Mobile, AL, because she felt in her gut she needed to be seen. We arrived at the hospital around 9 pm. When I got there with her, I sat in the waiting room as the team of doctors examined my daughter. A receptionist told me to go back, and Kayla would meet me in the hall before I got back (with permission from my daughter to speak with me) to prepare me for the horrific news I received.

Kayla's top priority was not only my daughter's physical health but her mental health as well. My daughter was her top priority; even after her shift ended in the morning, she stayed. I have pictures of her holding my heart, as her heart broke, and I had the pleasure of witnessing this nurse holding my daughter so tight until her broken heart began to feel a little better.

Kayla stayed with my daughter, helping her to do prints and take photos, and you could see the pain beginning to ease and turn into joy as my daughter spent time with her son. Her shift ended at 6 am. My grandson was born at 7 am, and she didn't leave the hospital until nearly 11 am (off the clock). There are not enough nurses who show such compassion to others as she showed to my daughter from the time she walked in that hospital room in the ER until after she delivered.

Being a nurse for labor and delivery is truly a calling for her. I pray she knows just how special she is to not only our family, but to many others, I'm sure. I do not know anyone who will go to the lengths this nurse will. The medical field truly has a jewel on their team, and it would be a great loss for theĀ USA to ever lose her on their team.
